About a third of people in the world are infected with Toxoplasma gondii. This parasite has been found in the reproductive organs and semen of males of many animal species as well as humans. The effects of toxoplasmosis on sperm count, motility and morphology were confirmed in rats. A higher prevalence of toxoplasmosis has been observed in infertile men. On the other hand, no significant effect of infection on semen parameters in men was found in one already published study.
To compare the prevalence of toxoplasmosis in men with and without semen pathology and to examine in detail the possible impact of infection on semen volume, sperm count, motility and morphology.
The pre-registered cross-sectional study included 669 men who visited the Centre for Assisted Reproduction in Prague from June 2016 until June 2018.

The National Undergraduate Neuroanatomy Competition (NUNC) is held annually for medical students throughout the UK. Prior to 2017, the competition asked open-ended questions (OEQ) in the anatomy spotter examination, and in subsequent years also asked single best answer (SBA) questions. The aim of this study is to assess medical students' performance on, and perception of, SBA and OEQ methods of assessment in a spotter style anatomy examination. Student examination performance was compared between OEQ (2013-2016) and SBA (2017-2020) for overall score and each neuroanatomical subtopic. Additionally, a questionnaire explored students' perceptions of SBAs. A total of 631 students attended the NUNC in the studied period. Investigation of bacterial isolates using molecular and phylogenetic approaches.
A total of 59 Argentinian isolates of Streptococcus equi subsp. equi obtained between 2007 and 2019 were studied by seM-typing. The sequence similarity of Argentinian seM-types and the other alleles available on the seM database was determined using BLAST and phylogenetic analysis was performed using the Neighbour-Joining algorithm. The amino acid sequences were predicted and compared with the predicted amino acid sequence of the reference strain 4047 using the MEGA 7 software and PROVEAN tool.
Eight seM-types were found among the isolates. Only onhorses between 2007 and 2019. The high genetic similarity among the Argentinian and Brazilian seM-types suggests that there is a geographical distribution of strain types. A novel porcine model of donation after circulatory death (DCD) with normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) allowed assessment of liver quality pre-mortem, during warm ischemia (WI) and post-NRP. 10% of circulating blood volume was removed in half of experiments to simulate blood recovery for DCD heart removal. Left median lobe biopsies were obtained before circulatory arrest, after 45 min of WI and after two hours of NRP, and analysed using spontaneous Raman spectroscopy, stimulated Raman spectroscopy (SRS) and staining. Measurements were also taken in situ from the porcine liver using a handheld Raman spectrometer at these time points from left median and right lateral lobes. To explore an optimal VED therapy regimen in bilateral cavernous nerve crush (BCNC) rat model.
Adult male rats were used to measure the effects of different durations (1-30min) of VED treatment on penile length, penile blood gas analysis, and adverse effects. Forty-eight adult male rats were randomly divided into Sham, BCNC, and VED treatment groups (2-3-2-3min, 4-3-3min, 5-5min, and 10min). Penile length, erectile function, and side effects were detected after VED treatment. Histopathological staining and Western blotting were performed to explore the cellular and molecular changes.
